2 Cor. 4 16-18

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

Lord, only speak a few words

In Matthew 8:3 Jesus speaks only a few words, and in one instance He only touches a women to heal. As humans we often look for many words, books and advice. Jesus does it in a few words. Matthew 8 is an amazing chapter with many miracles:
  • 3. And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, "I will; be clean." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
  • a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him, 6 "Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly." 7 And he said to him, "I will come and heal him"
  • Jesus entered Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever. 15 He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve him.
  • 31 And the demons begged him, saying, "If you cast us out, send us away into the herd of pigs." 32 And he said to them, "Go.
  • Then He (Jesus) rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
I find this truly amazing; absolutely nothing is too small or too great for Jesus. So I go in faith each day pleading on His promises and asking for just a few words of healing from Him. I often see His hand in daily events. Nothing happens by chance and His faithfulness is great. Even the shortest Psalm and chapter in the Bible speaks of His faithfulness in a few words.

Psalm 117: 1Praise the LORD, all nations! Extol him, all peoples! 2 For great is his steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD!

The Lord again has been so good to us. Yesterday I received a call from the kidney specialist Dr. Andreou that he will do surgery on July 25 to remove my cancerous kidney and tumour. The surgery will take place providing that the CT scan will show that the Chemo Therapy has set back the cancer. The CT scan will be done 4 days before surgery. Please join us in prayer that God will bless the means of the Chemo and medical intervention.

On June 16, I started Chemo treatments again, so far I feel pretty good, but do feel a little tired. My appetite is still very good and the 10 Lbs I lost during the first 4 weeks of Chemo I gained back during my 2 week break from Chemo, another answered prayer and great blessing for which we praise the Lord.

I just want to briefly come back to Matthew 8 where Jesus calms a storm:

24 And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. 25 And they went and woke him, saying, "Save us, Lord; we are perishing." 26 And he said to them, "Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?" Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. 27 And the men marvelled, saying, "What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?"

It is with this peace of Christ in our hearts that we go forward each day. We cannot be afraid because we know that God is with us in this trial. He is leading and providing in such incredible and remarkable ways. All we can say is "What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?" Thank you for your prayers, messages, conversations, calls and emails. God be with you all.

John

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

  1. Thank you John for your transparency in writing openly about your reliance and steadfast trust in Jesus Christ. Your blog posts have been a blessing to read even though I do not know you. By God's mercy, He has given me good health up to this day, but the nearness to Christ which comes through your posts is truly a delight. Praying for you and your family here in New Jersey!
