So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

God often comforts us.
God often comforts us, not by changing the circumstances of our lives, but by changing our attitude toward them. S.H.B. Masterman
Dear John & Henrietta: Thanks as always for your continual blog keeping us up to date on your situation as you are constantly on our minds, prayers and in our hearts. When I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of death I will fear no evil for Thou are with me..... – Psalm 23 Notice how Psalm 23 does not say “the valley of death” but rather the Valley of the shadow of death. A shadow can cause some darkness but it never causes pain and is of passing interest. We can be hit by a shadow at any speed, but at the very best of times, all it can do is give us a short fright. The force of death has been removed when Jesus took upon Himself when he went through the Valley of Death as our forerunner and Atoning Sacrifice. And because of this we need fear no evil because we can be hit only by the shadow and not the full impact of death standing on our own. And because our Savior rose from death, He is our able and willing guide to lead us through this Valley –any valley- since He has gone this route before on His own on our behalf and knows the way and promised to never leave us or forsake us. He will guide us through our valleys. John 14:19 Because I live, you will live also. John 11:25-26: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” God’s children never travel through the Death Valley. Jesus took that route in our place. For us there is only the Valley of the Shadow of death. These wonderful truths turn everything upside down from the natural, and makes all the eternal difference for us.
